Website Visibility - 3 Part Harmony
August 2, 2007 – 5:20 pmIf you’re one of many real estate agents who think that search engine visibility is highly complicated and hard to figure out … I’m about to shock you.
Search engine optimization (and by extension, website visibility) revolves around three primary components. Those components are content, website structure and link popularity. That’s it. Three simple concepts. I told you it was shocking.
Of course, how you integrate those three components to achieve maximum visibility for your real estate website is another thing entirely. But at least the concepts themselves are simple!
1. Content - The words and phrases you have on your website are the building blocks of search engine optimization. You cannot show up in search results for a certain phrase if you don’t have that phrase on your website. Simple, yes?
2. Website Structure - Let’s imagine two real estate websites that have identical content. But the first one has a Flash-based navigation menu, improper linking between pages, invalid web coding, and other things that limit the crawling ability of search engine robots. The other website (with proper structure) is going to outrank the first in search engines.
3. Link Popularity - In my book, you’ll learn how to acquire inbound links to your website. These are links from other websites to yours, and they have a lot to do with search engine visibility and ranking. You’ll learn the importance of relevant links, where to get them, and how to do it without tripping a search engine penalty.
So there you have them … three simple concepts with far-reaching effects. In my book on real estate search engine optimization, you will learn these concepts inside and out. But that’s only the beginning.
